Customers rave about the crispy batter on the haddock – it’s light and perfectly cooked without being greasy. The Digby scallops also receive high praise for being tender and flavorful, making them a must-try. Many diners enjoy the generous portion sizes, often leaving feeling overstuffed but satisfied. The homemade desserts, particularly the coconut cream pie, are a crowd favorite, often selling out before the dinner rush. Friendly staff enhance the experience, creating a warm atmosphere that makes you want to linger longer, whether it's for lunch or dinner.

The casual vibe, with ample seating available, is another highlight. Murphy’s has set the stage for great conversations over good food. It's also the perfect spot for tourists looking to experience authentic local cuisine.

Most Disliked

Some reviews mention a desire for house-made fries instead of the Cavendish varieties served. While they're still enjoyable, a few believe that fresh-cut fries could elevate the meal further. Occasionally, during busy hours, service can slow down, but most patrons find the staff’s friendliness makes up for it. A common regret among diners is that the delicious homemade pies can sometimes run out, so it’s recommended to ask early or visit for dessert first. Some diners have also mentioned that during peak hours, seating can be hard to come by, especially on Friday nights.

Though the atmosphere is generally cozy, the hustle and bustle during rush hours may be less relaxing, especially for those looking for a quieter dining experience.

We had fantastic fish dinners at Murphy’s. My wife had Salmon and I had the Haddock and Clams. Overstuffed was the word. We wanted the homemade pie but they ran out before we could order a piece. Atmosphere and engaging staff make this place special. Highly recommend.

So far the best fish & chips I’ve had throughout my trip to the Atlantic region. Not too greasy, good batter, good fish quality. Their tartar sauce is top tier, almost finished the entire bottle! Server was very nice, there’s lots of seating available, and the atmosphere was very hearty! It’s a good stop to eat if driving through this area.

Went to Murphys for lunch today, the atmosphere is great. You can definitely tell this is a well loved local place. Our seever was wonderful, I believe her name was Amanda. Food came fast and piping hot, we both ordered a 2 pc fish n chips. The fish was great, the batter was light and crispy and the fish flaked apart I could barely pick it up. The fries would be better if prepared in house but Cavendish is local enough in my opinion, who doesn't love Cavendish fries anyways. My only regret was ordering the 2pc because I was so full I could barely finish it. 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and will definitely be back.

Just had fish and chips at Murphey’s in Truro. The server was extremely pleasant and attentive. The fish batter light and the fish flakey. It was amazing. Oh! And the price very reasonable. So tasty.
